Shadow Theatre in Sharjah – Sharjah Narrator Forum

It was the very first performance of shadow theatre in Sharjah. In late September, shadow theatre Verba had the honor to perform at the event, held under the patronage of the government and in the presence of H.H Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council Member.

It was 16TH Sharjah International NARRATOR FORUM, which was held 3 days. This year it was next topic: “Juha a Common Human Heritage”. Juha in UAE considered as national hero, who, traveling with his donkey in Turkey, Syria, Egypt, studied the culture of these countries, and eventually returned to his homeland with great knowledge. The venue was in the University City Hall, the opening was included theatrical performances, Kid’s dance and the only one invited artiste was just Ukrainian shadow theatre Verba with the Story about Juha.

Despite the cultural differences and conservative rules in Sharjah dancers were able to represent with great success their performance and were rewarded with a standing ovation.

Immediately after this performance, the event organizers booked another performance of the shadow theatre in UAE.
